Damp
​Damp is a term used to describe a range of conditions connected with excess moisture. It refers to conditions where the relative humidity (RH) exceeds 65/70% and above for a prolonged period.
Damp may be seen as:
- condensation on windows or walls
- mould on organic objects
- stains on walls or ceilings
- patches of blowing paint or plaster - raised blisters where the paint or plaster is lifting away from the substrate
- active infestations of insects, especially furniture beetle, death watch beetle, booklice, silverfish, plaster beetles and wood weevils.
