Size: 3-4mm

Shape: Pear-shaped

Colour: Shiny dark brown or black

Antennae: Very long and thin, no club

Distinguishing features: Very shiny, body, thorax and abdomen in smooth pear-shape

Larvae are scavengers 

Adults eat: very little

Occasionally found near bird's nests
